About MITI

The Minna Institute of Technology and Innovation was established in 1977 as works training school (WTS) under the state ministry of works and infrastructural Development and charged with the responsibility to train craftsmen, technicians and conducting of trade tests in various cadre (Electrical, Mechanical, Mason, Building, Plumbing, Motor Mechanic e.t.c) at A.W.S, W.S and Artisan levels respectively. It was transferred to the Ministry of Tertiary education and then upgraded on 19thDecember 2013 into Innovation Institute, called Minna Innovation institute, and subsequently, after the passage of the edict it became the Minna Institute of technology and innovation. This is in line with current policy and mandate of the federal Government. The innovation institutes are to be readily responsive to the demands of the economy and serve as catalysts in the achievement of the Nigeria 2020 vision of becoming one of the twenty largest economies in the world.

With the institute’s new status, the nomenclature of the principal was changed from principle to provost and that of the Administrative Secretary to Registrar, other principle officers are bursar and librarian. Hajiya Nana Bala Ibrahim, Who has been the principal of the school since 2011-2013 became the pioneer Ag. Provost.

The Minna institute of technology and Innovation (MITI) Is suited on a vast expanse of land with adequate space for future expansion and development. The institute is presently under the supervision of the Niger state Ministry of Tertiary Education. The bill for the establishment was establishment of the institute was passed on 28th May 2015 and signed by the then Governor of Niger state, Dr. Mua’zu Babangida Aliyu. The law will enhance the status of the institute as an autonomous tertiary institution and provides opportunity for further growth and development.
